"Fun, Fun, Fun, til' my daddy takes the T-bird away"

Bye-bye T-bird. It was nice knowing you.  Our poor Thunderbird has been slowly dying since Thanksgiving and finally we decided to sell it. We posted it on KSL.com and no more than 20 minutes after posting, I got a stream of calls!  Mostly from Hispanics. :) We sold it for $425. I felt bad for the poor guy that we sold it to. We told him it still runs (which it does), but when I was cleaning it out hours before, the battery died. Ironic.... Neither of my neighbors have jumper cables and we've yet to buy some (though I've been wanting to for a while), so I hurried and called my mom to come jump it. The guy that bought the car pushed it to the end of our long driveway in neutral, and finally we got it jumped and running. Then he hooked it up to his dolly and took off. I felt bad for the hassle, but at least we got it taken care of and gone. Goodbye T-bird, we'll miss you (sort of). ;)

Motorcycle Fixin'

Well, we had a busy week last week... As you've now read, we have been having some issues with our vehicles. Kory's motorcycle (Honda 550 Nighthawk '83) broke down on Wednesday and he was determined to figure out the problem and fix it that weekend. So we spent the night last Friday in Highland and Kory spent Saturday taking the bike apart piece by piece and examining every detail and wire trying to find the problem. He knew that if he could find where the electricity wasn't getting to he would know where the problem was located. He bought a voltmeter to do that. (PS any better details are to be referred to Kory because I don't know the proper mechanical terms very well.) So as you can see in the pictures, the bike was a complete skeleton with wires going everywhere. My little sister Sheyenne was keeping him company too. ;) It rained Saturday so he worked on it in my parent's garage where my mom's Escalade goes. After starting at about 8:30am, he figured out what made the bike go from purring beautifully to a dead silence. In the picture below you can see how a piece of the fuse exploded. This is what he needed to fix. He told me that the two that blew up were the positive wires and the two below it are the negatives, therefore all he needed to to was somehow connect the two blown wires together. So he did; he cut them from the back and taped them together. And Ta Da! It worked again! :) We still have two forms of transportation! He was able to drive it home that night which was nice because it drove smoothly with no signs of additional problems. This obviously isn't the end of our motorcycle problems because the battery still doesn't hold a charge for longer than a day nor in the cold, but at least one problem is taken care of and Kory learned a lot. I personally am glad we had this experience, because now Kory was able to teach himself and now knows how to fix the problem on his own. He still won't admit that and says he would've preferred to avoid the situation completely by buying a better bike, but I know he'll be grateful for this later! ;)

He then gave Sheyenne a ride around the subdivision. :)

He doesn't look very excited here but that's bc he hates pictures, but he REALLY was VERY excited it was working!

Why must things BrEaK DoWn??

So Kory and I have decided that we can't own anything without it falling apart....
The story of the week is how Kory's motorcycle broke down on his way to work Wednesday and had to call Landon (friend and fellow employee) to come pick him up and help tow his bike to my parents house. Since Kory's new job is located in Alpine it made it nice to have my parent's house right there in Highland to drop it off for the time being. With his bike out of commission, we figured that I could simply get off the Highland/Alpine exit and pick him up- problem solved, right? Unfortunately, Kory, my dad and his neighbor still couldn't get the bike to start and we couldn't go back to Provo because then Kory would have no way to work the next morning. Our last option was to stay the night at my parents house and then I could drop off Kory on my way to work (In case you weren't aware, I work in Salt Lake for the summer). This was not a big deal except for the fact that my family has no guest room or any bed bigger than a twin, therefore, we had to sleep I Love Lucy style (aka in separate beds in the same room)....not my favorite thing to do after being married.... ;)
Anyways back to the point of all this... Other than Kory's motorcycle not functioning, our poor little T-Bird has been fighting to survive as well. Wednesday, as I drove home from work to Highland, it started to overheat. Next to that, our AC is demented, meaning the blower likes to start and stop and not start again- It has a mind of its own really!
Aside from our vehicles, Kory's phone has a defect and likes to turn itself off randomly during the day and he can only speak on it if its plugged it.
Moral of the Story: Things break down if you are a poor newlywed couple. It's a fact. Do you think God will laugh at me if I fast for our appliances? ;) haha oh man.......
