Spontaneous California Trip

We spontaneously took a road trip to California to visit with Kory's sister, Jenn, and her family.
We spent a day in San Fransisco and Pier 39 and dinner with Kory's Uncle Mark and family, as well as going to the Folsom Zoo and Splash Pad.

Getaway to Midway

Kory is the sweetest husband ever. About this time of year, every year, since we've been married, Kory has surprised me with some sort of getaway. It is usually sometime between January-March because I believe they are the most depressing months of the year. So it turns out to be like a Semi-Annual Anniversary thing.
This year we ditched Salt Lake and went south instead. No, not St. George (maybe in the future... ;) ). We went to Midway and stayed at The Homestead Resort.  Our package also came with a dip in the Homestead Crater.

We took little Ainsley with us just to make it easier on Kory's sister, Shelby, who so willingly was watching Sydney back home. If you look back at our Salt Lake Getaway with Sydney was Ainsley's age, you can see a similar picture of her on the bed (both about 5-6 months old and both with the same chubby square cheeks).

We ate dinner at the Homestead Restaurant called "Simon's Restaurant".  It was delicious, for both dinner and breakfast. :)  They brought us a pot of bread. Yes, a POT of bread. It was really bizarre but very original; I liked that.

Outside the front of the resort were some freakin' cool ice sculpture things

After our one-night stay, came our free soak in Midway's natural crater.  This crater is naturally heated and used for swimming and scuba diving lessons around Utah.  I myself, was scuba certified here.  Inside the crater, it starts with a narrow corridor (or hallway) lined with a few changing rooms.  Past these tiny sized changing rooms is a check-in desk and a bunch of rental scuba equipment.  Then the passageway dips down into where it opens up into the natural crater and you see this:

When we went, however, it was really steamy because it was so cold outside.
Ainsley was hilarious! From the minute that we put her in the life jacket and floaty, she did NOT move. Not because she couldn't but because she was so comfortable. She was so relaxed in that perfectly warm water that she even fell asleep. I think she enjoyed it the most.

It was a very fun getaway despite the cold weather.  Again, I love my husband and his willingness to make me happy.
