Tub Paint

Sydney was sick today and I was really sad I couldn't take her to Nursery, because she absolutely loves Nursery. So I remembered Kory found this easy activity on Pinterest.  It's called Bathtub PaintIt is so simple and such a great idea for a sick kid who feels better with a warm bath anyway.

The recipe is:

2 tbsp cornstarch
4-6 pumps baby shampoo (about 1/8 c.)
2-3 drops food coloring
1-2 tsp water

It wipes off real easy with water.  I wiped this paint job clean with the shower and a luffa. NOTE: You can't paint on a wet surface so make sure the tub walls are dry before painting.

Look it up also on my Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/shaydopp/kids-ideas/

Real Salt Lake Box Seats

I am so sorry that I have been really bad at keeping up on blogging lately. I apologize to those who read and would like a more regular update.  Recently we went to the REAL SALT LAKE soccer game and we had box seats! My dad and I coached my sister's (Savannah- 13 yrs old) competitive basketball team through the winter and one of the parent's works for Xango. And Xango is one of the main sponsor of REAL Soccer. He and his partners are the owners of the company and thus have boxed seats to every game that they each rotate. He invited us as a thank you for coaching. :) It was a bit chilly but they had an inside area where they fed us amazing food and where we could keep warm.

Kory's Trip to Lisbon for the first time

Kory was able to make a trip out to his parent's new house in Lisbon, Illinois in hopes of helping them fix it up quicker. Kory's parents bought a run down "Ark", as mom calls it, and dad has the vision of fixing and renovating the entire house. That is quite a project! Especially when dad intends to do it all by himself. :S  So, Kory was eager to get out there and help him as soon as possible. He was able to spend a week camping out with him.  Some of these pictures are already outdated but they give you a good idea of what the house is and what potential it has to be in the future.

The yellow load-bearing beam that sagged several inches.  If you look at the decorative board attached to the bottom of the load-bearing beam, you can see about how much the beam bows because that finishing piece is about level.

Firewood.  The pile was about twice as high, but we did a lot of burning.

Here's the home!  It'll look a little bit different, because it will get some new siding before it's finished.

My dad's gigantic second garage.  I am jealous.

we had to support the roof with this system recommended by a structural engineer who happens to live in my parents' ward.  How convenient!
