Repelling in Zion's Canyon

We went to Zion's Canyon this past week for 3 days and spent 9 hours hiking, repelling and jumping in pools! We all came home sore and tired and too weak to try Angel's Landing.

The first half was full of really cool repels in the slot canyons. The next part, we hiked and hiked and hiked until we came to some pools.

Because of the mass rain it's been getting, most of the pools were too deep to touch. So we had no choice but to jump in them in order to continue. Some were probably 5 feet which wasn't so bad, but some had to be 8 feet deep. At one point, when Derik (my brother) was tired of always going first- because the water was so dirty we could never tell how deep the water actually was- Kory decided to take the first dive. Ironically, this particular pool happened to be the deepest one. He jumped in and completely disappeared! When he finally surfaced, he tried again to touch the bottom and lifted his hand straight up so we could get an estimate of how deep the pool was. He did so and the tip of his fingers barely immersed in the water, so we calculated that the pool was about 8 feet (give or take). We had no fear jumping in that pool; no broken legs here! :)
