Happy 1st Birthday, Sydney T!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS SYDNEY!
It was quite the experience that brought Sydney here (Sydney's Birth Story). But it has officially been a year since she was born into our lives and we have loved every minute of it!  For her birthday we decided to invite our friends, family, and all those who met Sydney from day 1.  Ashley Hix kindly made her b-day cake. The theme was centered around the theme she's had since she was born: Jungle Elephants and Monkeys.  When she was born, Grandma Cheryl made her a green and yellow quilt with jungle animals and she received a stuffed Elephant that she now adores. It only seemed appropriate that we continued the theme.
Sydney's cake was chocolate (of course. She is, in fact, my chocolate girl) with green frosting and a little gray elephant on top. We allowed her to eat it all by herself, although, I loved how she was hesitant at first by touching it with just one finger to test it.  Then she finally figured it out and stuffed her face. It was great. Just like Sydney :)
Cupcakes for everyone else!

So dainty at first with her little finger.

  • Sydney now walks with no help. (Video below)
  • The day after her birthday, she learned how to sign "please" (and almost say). (Video below)
  • She still gives great kisses (open-mouthed ones).
  • She likes to pull things out of drawers and boxes and then climb in herself.
  • She skipped the bottle stage and is a master at the sippy-cup.
  • She is up to 18 lbs now.  She is growing slow, but she's still growing.
Walking like a pro and chasing Zhu Zhu pets.
